Word of Life Scholarships
The following scholarships must be applied for before October 18, 2011 using the Word of Life Bible Institute Scholarship Application.  All Financial Aid forms can be viewed in the Financial Aid Forms page including our our brochure outlining all available financial assistance.

Ideal Financial Aid Timeline

February 1st - Begin FAFSA and download WOLBI Scholarship Application.

March 1st - FAFSA completed and WOLBI Scholarship Application submitted.

April 1st - Verification process completed and optional loan application completed.

May 1st - Complete internet searches and local inquiries into scholarship opportunities.

July 15th - Initial fall semester school bill sent.

August 1st - Send in Payment Plan form with first payment to complete Financial Check-in.
Church Matching Scholarship
Word of Life Bible Institute will match up to $500 of a scholarship awarded by a church for a full-time student enrolled in the Bible Institute program.  A church official must submit the Church Matching Scholarship form along with a check payable to Word of Life Bible Institute by registration day of the student’s first semester.  Donations or Scholarships will be accepted from churches only.  Personal checks and payments from other sources will not qualify for matching funds.
Chancellor's Scholarship
Eligible students may be awarded this scholarship in only one of the following categories:

Alumni

$1000

Awarded to dependents or siblings of Word of Life Bible Institute Alumni.

Christian Leadership Development

$1000

This award is intended to assist a student who has outstanding spiritual potential or has made a decision for Christ in the last year.  Recommendation by a WOL Area Missionary or authorized WOL Staff Member is required. Find My Area Missionary!

Christian Worker Dependent

$1000

Awarded to dependents of full-time Missionaries or Pastors.

Start Strong LCM Scholarship

$1000

Awarded to students who currently attend a church that has enrolled in the Word of Life Local Church Ministry Club Program within the past year.  Valid for freshman year only. 

Amount may vary based on financial need.
Confirmation Scholarship
 Students who submit their $250 confirmation fee prior to October 1, 2010; November 19, 2010; March 11, 2011; or May 27, 2011 are awarded $750, $350, $250, or $150 (respectively).
STC Scholarship
The STC (Summer Training Corps) scholarship is awarded to students who have successfully completed Word of Life’s STC program at one of the five US camps during the summer following their Junior or Senior years of high school.  Amounts awarded are:  Junior-$1000, Senior-$2,000.  Awards are based on the completion of a full summer at camp.  
Local Church Ministries Scholarships
From programs within the United States, may all be combined to a maximum of $3,500 per single academic year.  Amounts exceeding $3,500 may be held in reserve to be applied to the Sophomore Year.  Original certificates of completion/placement must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office with the Scholarship Application.

Cre8tive Discipleship Scholarship (C8) 

$500/ yr achieved

Awarded based on successful completion of the C8 programs and approval by WOL Local Church Ministries.    

Steadfast Award Scholarship 

$500

Awarded based on successful completion of the Steadfast Award and approval by WOL Local Church Ministries.   Students are awarded $500.

TI (Teens Involved) Scholarship

$75-$600/

Awarded for 1st, 2nd or 3rd placement in one or more categories of WOL Clubs Senior High Teens Involved International competitions.

Student Leadership Scholarship
A scholarship of $1,800 is awarded to students who apply and qualify for the RA (Resident Assistant) position. Positions vary and are limited.  Selection is based on interviews with faculty, abilities, and Christian character.  Students must maintain the Standard of Academic Progress and complete all criteria as outlined on the Student Leadership Application. For more information, or to apply for a position, contact the Student Life Department at studentlife@wol.org (NY) or call 727-379-5037 (FL).
Wyrtzen Scholarship

Awarded based on financial need and Christian character.  The amount awarded may range from $250-$1,000 and is applied after the student’s first academic period of attendance.  Students that exhibit outstanding financial need on the initial primary scholarship application will be issued a supplemental application that must be returned prior to the October 18th deadline.  These applications are reviewed for the Wyrtzen Scholarship after the October 18th, 2011 deadline.

Chow Scholarship
Awarded based on financial need and ACT/SAT scores.  Students must submit a copy of their SAT or ACT scores for review with the scholarship application.  Three recipients will be selected and awarded $500 each.  Applications must be submitted by July 1st, 2011 for consideration for this scholarship.
Florida Specific Scholarships
Bowers Scholarship
Awarded to as many as three students attending the Florida campus who have an evident desire to serve the Lord in full-time ministry.  Financial need and academic ability are also given consideration.  FAFSA must be completed to be eligible.  The amount awarded may range from $500-1,500, applied in the second payment period.

Florida Commuter/ Florida Resident Discount
A student who is defined as a FL resident and has graduated from a Florida High School may receive a discount of $2,490 if they live on campus; or $1,420 if they are permitted to commute.  Students who receive the resident discount are not eligible to receive Chancellor’s Scholarships such as Alumni, Christian Leadership Development, Christian Worker Dependent, or Start Strong.  A student’s qualification for Florida Residency may be determined by reviewing the document published by The College Board at www.collegeboard.com.

Rogan Scholarship
Awarded to students attending the Florida campus.  Applicants must have completed the FAFSA and be able to document significant financial need.  The amount awarded may range from $100-1,000, applied in the second payment period.
Sophomore Specific Scholarships
Academic Scholarship
Awarded to sophomores who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher upon completion the of their freshman year (Summer Ministry grade is excluded). The amount awarded is $1000 and divided and applied over each payment period of the sophomore year.

Bradbury Scholarship
Awarded to three sophomores who demonstrate financial need and a sincere desire to serve the Lord in full-time ministry.   Applications for this scholarship are only available during the week of March 1-11, 2011 of the student’s freshman year.  The amount awarded is $1000 and applied equally in each payment period of the student’s sophomore year.

Impact Team*
The Impact Team is a men’s vocal group that tours.  Students in their sophomore year who commit to complete a year of ministry on the Impact Team immediately following the completion of their sophomore year will receive a scholarship of $2,000.   Students planning for their sophomore year after completing a year of ministry on the Impact Team will receive a scholarship of up to $5,000 (based on support raised).    Students must be confirmed prior to 10/18/2011.  Contact Mike Laymon: mikel@wol.org.

SIC (Summer Institute of Camping) Scholarship
Awarded to sophomores who have successfully completed their freshman summer ministry and have committed to completing their sophomore summer ministry at an authorized Word of Life camp or ministry at the approval of the camp director.  The amount awarded is $1000. Applications for this scholarship will be available during the student’s freshman summer ministry and must be submitted by July 31st, 2011.
